Season Overview: We should have listened to Stewart Mandel. Oklahoma had so many players when Lincoln Riley left it would be difficult for the Sooners to win ten games. Also, you had a first-time head coach bringing in a defensive system that he did not have the players to run. That is a recipe to go 6-7.
2023 Outlook: Venables and his coaching staff are replenishing the roster with a lot of juice on the recruiting trail. The Sooners pulled off a significant flip by signing safety Peyton Bowen. Dillon Gabriel returns at quarterback next season but will be pushed by five-star Jackson Arnold. Expect the Sooners to win more than six games in their last season in the Big 12.
