Sugar Bowl: No. 9 Kansas State vs No. 5 Alabama (-6.5) (Dec. 31,12 PM EST, ESPN)

I would love to see this game as part of a 12-team College Football Playoff but that’s still a couple of years away (thank goodness it’s coming).

Alabama didn’t deserve to make the College Football Playoff based on its resume. However, Nick Saban wasn’t wrong when he said Alabama would be favored over other teams being considered.

Alabama would be favored over TCU and maybe even Ohio State and Michigan. The Tide lost at Tennessee when it missed a go-ahead field goal with about 20 seconds left. Then, Alabama lost at LSU in overtime on a 2-point conversion.

If one play goes the other way, the Tide are unbeaten, at least in the regular season. At any rate, this is a really good team. Bryce Young and Will Anderson are also playing (no opt-out). Kansas State is no slouch but Alabama is a different animal.
