3 reasons TCU football will upset Georgia in national title game
Elite playmakers
There’s no question that Georgia is the most talented team in college football this season. The Bulldogs aren’t as talented as they were a season ago. They won’t have the same number of first-rounders, especially on defense but UGA is still loaded.
TCU football isn’t. I talked about it in my bowl takeaways since TCU ranks outside the top 30 in terms of the 2022 team talent composite rankings. They also had a blue-chip ratio of just 21 percent.
That’s supposed to make it impossible to win a national championship. Yet, if talent rankings were the only that mattered, the Horned Frogs wouldn’t have beaten Michigan or advanced to the College Football Playoff.
That being said, the Horned Frogs don’t lack playmakers and it’s not just Duggan. Kendre Miller is one of the most underrated running backs in college football. He missed some of the Michigan game but he’ll be a huge weapon if available (he’s questionable) and TCU will run the ball better than Ohio State.
Quentin Johnston might not be as talented as Marvin Harrison Jr. but he’s right there and he’s among the most dangerous players in college football. Johnston has to be excited about the prospect of facing the Georgia secondary and he’s another reason why TCU will have a shot.
Tre’vius Hodges-Tomlinson is another name to know on the defense, along with Bud Clark who have a combined eight interceptions this season. The defense doesn’t get talked about enough. It’s not elite but is really stellar in one key way.
