Bad Losses: Penn State 35-21
Season Overview: The Utes did the unexpected and defeated the USC Trojans not once but twice. The second win gave them a claim to their second straight conference title. Cam Rising was dynamic at quarterback, and they were physical as Kyle Whittingham teams tend to be. Utah might have done more than smell the roses if not for a loss to Florida in the season opener and an upset loss to UCLA.
2023 Outlook: The Utes return nearly everyone from this past season’s championship team, including Rising. The defense gets almost everyone back, and Utah should be a player in the Pac-12 again. Can the Utes avoid the upset loss and stay in the Playoff hunt longer next season?
