T3. South Carolina

According to Justin Hopkins of Scoop Duck (Oregon’s On3 site), all of the schools involved are feeling confident and that’s consistent with what others have reported.

One telling point is that neither Steve Wiltfong nor Chad Simmons — the top recruiting analysts for 247 sports and On3 — have put in projections yet.

South Carolina has received the only crystal ball but there hasn’t been much after that. Harbor visited South Carolina and seems to have a strong rapport with Shane Beamer.

The Gamecocks are also listed as the leader right now according to the On3 prediction machine, so South Carolina is definitely in the mix but Oregon seems to have moved ahead.

T3. Michigan

Michigan has been the one constant out of all the top five programs. The Wolverines have consistently been in the top two or three since last spring.

Harbor took an official visit to Michigan football and his strong interest in academics would seem to make him a strong fit for the Wolverines.

However, outside of the recent in-home visit by Jim Harbaugh and other staffers, the Wolverines don’t seem to have as much momentum. They tried really hard to answer the questions about the track stuff, because Michigan doesn’t have the reputation of Oregon, but we’ll see.

That and NIL are likely hurting Michigan in this recruitment and if those are the biggest factors in a decision, Michigan is probably getting left at the altar.
