1. Brian Hartline, Ohio State offensive coordinator

One of the most intriguing names that’s been talked about in regard to the Notre Dame offensive coordinator position is Brian Hartline.

Hartline was teammates with Marcus Freeman at Ohio State, so it would make sense that the two young up-and-coming coaches and friends teamed up. But swiping Hartline from Ohio State won’t be easy for Freeman. The only way Hartline would leave his alma mater would be for the perfect job and situation and I think this might qualify.

Heck, Tommy Rees did leave his alma mater for a perfect situation. So it happens.

Hartline is one of the best recruiters in the country and would immediately improve Notre Dame in that regard and he was just promoted to Ohio State offensive coordinator this offseason after spending four years as the wide receivers coach.

This would be a heck of a hire even though he doesn’t have play-calling experience. Clearly Ryan Day trusts him enough to call plays at Ohio State.

Let’s see if Freeman can convince Hartline to leave for the same position in South Bend.
