This is a game that I think could surprisingly go either way. Do I think Michigan State will bounce back after a 5-7 season? Yes. Do I think the Spartans will contend for the Big Ten title? No. Do I think they’ll have the pieces to make Washington sweat one out in East Lansing? Yes.

Washington took care of Michigan State in Seattle last season in a game that was supposed to be much more competitive, but I think the Spartans take a big step forward in 2023 under Mel Tucker.

The Huskies barely eke one out because, well, Michael Penix has the Spartans’ number.

Prediction: Win (3-0)

Prior to last season, Justin Wilcox was one of the more popular names on the coaching market, but I think that’s no longer the case after a disappointing 4-8 season. Oregon State had the season that Cal felt like it was going to have.

And I think this is going to be a fairly easy win for Washington.

The Golden Bears don’t quite have an identity heading into the season and I think the quarterback position will be a weakness unlike in years past. Washington will take full advantage and pick up a big win to kick off conference play.

Prediction: Win (4-0, 1-0 Pac-12)
