Kamari Ramsey

UCLA football lost two really productive players on the back end of its defense in Stephan Blaylock and Mo Olsing III. Those two guys combined for 189 tackles last season and heading into 2023, the Bruins need some new blood, especially at the safety position.

In comes Kamari Ramsey. Ramsey was the top-rated signee for the Bruins in the 2022 recruiting class. Chip Kelly has done well in the transfer portal and he added four transfers rated as four-star prospects including one potential starter at safety in Jordan Anderson at Bowling Green.

However, you still have to be successful in terms of high school recruiting and Ramsey showed some promise last season. He only had five tackles and only played four games last season, mostly on special teams but Ramsey was ranked No. 269 overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings in 2022 and should be ready for a big leap.

Ramsey is going to contend for a starting job and he could take a big step toward locking it down this spring. He’s got all the physical talent and put forth a solid showing in the bowl game for the Bruins — now he just needs to take the next step, which I think he will.
