I think we’re going to see a lot of cornerbacks taken in the first round because it’s a really good class and Kelly Ringo will go one pick after Cam Smith, a fellow SEC defensive back.
I think Ringo is right there in terms of talent level with Smith and he may end up being a better NFL cornerback, but the Vikings will get him at No. 23 and that’ll fill a need on the defensive side of the ball that’s been plaguing Minnesota for years. It’s been a while since they’ve been able to shut down opposing quarterbacks.
Ringo finished his Georgia career with 76 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, four picks, and 15 pass breakups in just 29 career games. He was an absolute superstar on one of the nation’s best defenses.
The Vikings could use some interior offensive line help or even a defensive lineman, but Ringo makes the most sense.
