OL Ben Scott (transfer)

Offensive linemen aren’t the sexiest additions, however, Nebraska football fans know better than most how important the play is in the trenches.

When the Huskers were winning national championships under Tom Osborne, they had some of the best offensive lines in all of college football. That hasn’t been the case recently and last season, starting QB Casey Thompson seemed like he was always running for his life.

Heading into the offseason under new head coach Matt Rhule, the center position was a big question mark. Yet, the Huskers were able to land Ben Scott, a multi-year starter from Arizona State. He could be a tackle or a center.

Yet, with the need inside and some of the other options, I would go with Scott there. The center position sets the tone for the offensive line and if that group is going to be improved, Scott is going to have a huge role to play.

Rhule has talked about protecting the quarterback and running the football. Those are things Nebraska hasn’t done well in recent years. Scott can help can that. It isn’t sexy, but of all the transfers coming in, he’s probably the most important addition right now.
