Ty Simpson, Alabama

Like Georgia, we don’t know who Alabama’s starting quarterback is going to be yet. Jalen Milroe started last season for the Crimson Tide when Bryce Young was out. He wasn’t bad against Texas A&M but didn’t do enough that I would say he’s the sure-fire starter.

Nick Saban addressed the competition earlier this week as spring ball got underway for Alabama. Battling Milroe for the job is former five-star QB Ty Simpson. He was the third-ranked quarterback in the 2022 class and the No. 26 overall prospect.

Milroe was also a top-100 prospect and ranked 14th among quarterbacks back in the 2020 class. He’s got the experience edge, but Saban said Monday that Simpson could be, “A pretty good player.”

So we’ll have to see but whoever wins the job is going to put up big numbers and I think that Simpson will win the job and be one of college football’s breakout stars of 2023.
