Late last year, the South Carolina football team became one of CFB’s most exciting squads. It’s time to predict whether they pick up where they left off.

When sharing a division with Georgia and Tennessee, it’s difficult to stand out. However, the South Carolina football team has made it look quite easy.

The Gamecocks are coming off of an 8-5 season (their second-best record since 2013). While that alone is respectable, what truly makes them stand out is just how powerful of a note they ended the run on.

Entering Week 12, they were sitting at 6-4, had just lost to Florida by 32 points, and had a home game with Tennessee in front of them. After that, it would be a road trip to Clemson. For what should be obvious reasons, this left many expecting the Gamecocks to enter the postseason 6-6. Oh, how misguided those expectations were.

South Carolina football went on to beat Tennessee like a drum, dropping 63 points in what was ultimately a four-score victory. As for Clemson, its 31-30 loss to USC was not nearly as embarrassing, but exponentially more heartbreaking.

Those two outstanding performances gave the Gamecocks a promising record of 8-4, thrusting them into the Gator Bowl against a Notre Dame squad with the same record (where they almost won again).

Ending a season that strong does one thing and one thing only: It gets the heart pumping all the faster for next season. With that said, South Carolina football seems like one of the most exciting teams to break down in this offseason stretch.

So without further ado, here are my game-by-game predictions for the 2023 South Carolina Gamecocks.
