SEC Football: Most impactful newcomers for each team
By Dante Pryor
Arkansas Razorbacks
Expect to see many new faces in the starting lineup for the Razorbacks this fall. Quarterback KJ Jefferson needs some new receivers after the departure of Jadon Hazelwood, Matt Landers, and Trey Knox, Arkansas’ leading receivers last season. Head coach Sam Pittman and his staff signed three receivers in the portal and three out of high school.
Expect to see transfer receivers Tyrone Broden (Bowling Green), Isaac TeSlaa (Hillsdale College), and Andrew Armstrong (Texas A&M Commerce) compete for snaps this fall. Florida transfer offensive lineman Joshua Braun is a plug-and-play starter at guard or tackle. Keep an eye on tight end Luke Haz.
The Bixby, Oklahoma native has had a great spring, taking advantage of the low numbers at tight end. Haz gives the Razorbacks a different look at tight end. He’s more of a slot or motion combo tight end/H-back than a traditional in-line blocker.
There are going to be some new faces on the defense as well. Top 150 prospect Jaylon Braxton is also off to a great spring. There are a lot of defensive backs ahead of him on the depth chart, but his length and track speed might get him some snaps this fall. With Drew Sanders off to the NFL, South Florida transfer linebacker Antonio Grier should compete for a starting linebacker spot.
