Ranking the 10 best helmets in college football

2. Michigan Wolverines

This shouldn’t be a huge surprise as Michigan has the most iconic helmet in sports. Yes, I said in all of sports. Michigan’s winged helmet is one of the oldest and it has never changed which is what makes it so iconic. When you see this blue helmet with maize wings, you just know it’s Michigan’s. There aren’t a ton of helmets that are that noticeable and recognizable, but the Wolverines have done a good job of not changing a great thing.

And this actually pains me to say because, as mentioned before, I graduated from Michigan State and was raised to hate these colors and this helmet.

But it’s just so iconic.

Also, I’m slightly partial to this helmet because when I was growing up playing youth football, this was the helmet my school wore. It reminds me of my childhood, even though I did grow up a Spartan fan as well.

The maize on the dark blue helmet is a good look and I really like the return of the helmet stickers. I think all schools should go back to using them. The retro look is in.

Michigan’s helmet is one of the best in sports, but there is one school that does helmets better.
