@ Temple (W)

Week 4 will witness the revival of an old Big East rivalry between the Canes and Owls, but it certainly won’t feel like most other rivalries out there.

Miami has faced Temple 14 times in the past, with all but the first installment (which was back in 1930) going to the former. It is also worth noting that the Owls have only won seven games since their 2019 campaign.

Simply put, if the Hurricanes lose this one, Temple earning some bringing rights will be the least of their concerns.

Georgia Tech (W)

We’re just going to cut to the chase on this one: Who has the better coaching situation? The Hurricanes. Who has the better players? The Hurricanes. Who will have the home-field advantage? The Hurricanes. Who won last year’s meeting by three touchdowns? The Hurricanes. Who’s going to win this year’s meeting? You guessed it—the Hurricanes.

@ North Carolina (L)

Normally, a team coming off of a conference title game appearance would be given the nod over a team coming off of a losing season without any hesitation. However, Miami football is no easy win as far as the North Carolina Tar Heels are concerned.

While UNC has won its last four meetings with the Canes, three of them (including last season’s) were decided by a field goal, so there is definitely a possibility of the Heels being given quite the run for their money—but close wins are still wins.

It does not matter how close recent encounters have been, the fact that North Carolina knows what it takes to consistently survive Miami still remains. The Tar Heels also have sizable advantages through both them being the home team and their quarterback play.

Especially if fans know that the game will be a good one, Kenan Stadium can be a very hectic place to visit. As for Heels QB Drake Maye, he garnered much attention as a Heisman hopeful in 2022, and he has only built on his experience since his last time facing the Canes.

Again, could this game be a close one? Absolutely, but that doesn’t mean it’s a tough one to call.
