As a Michigan State fan, I can tell you that this one hurt on a different level. Losing Germie Bernard was painful because I felt like he was about to become a star for the Spartans in 2023 with Jayden Reed gone, but he decided to head back home and play for the program he originally committed to before leaving for Michigan State.
Putting my sadness aside, I do believe that he’s going to be a star at Washington and he didn’t just choose the Huskies to be a backup. He wants to be a starter or at least have a prominent role in the receiver rotation.
I think he can get that even though Washington returns the starters at the position and some true All-Pac-12 talents.
Bernard was a four-star recruit out of high school and played just one season at Michigan State, somewhat buried on the depth chart, and still managed to catch seven passes for 128 yards. He’s capable of much more than that and will have a big year with Washington.
The Huskies now have 4-5 receivers that could start on most teams.
