1. Cade McNamara

It isn’t hard to love the Iowa Hawkeyes’ quarterback room this season. Iowa signed two quarterbacks in the portal, Michigan transfer Cade McNamara and Wisconsin transfer Deacon Hill. McNamara has already served notice on the conference:

McNamara is ready to be the catalyst to turn the Iowa football offense around. He led the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff in 2021 and is an accomplished veteran quarterback. Not only did the Hawkeyes procure their present at quarterback, but they also found their potential quarterback of the future in Wisconsin transfer Deacon Hill.

Hill has had a great spring thus far and is slated to be QB2. Kirk Ferentz might have to change his rule and play the younger quarterback. Hill has a big-time arm and can push the ball down the field, something the Hawkeyes have not had in a long time. Not too shabby for a quarterback that nearly found himself at Fordham before Iowa offered.

Hill has ideal size and elite arm strength. He could step in if McNamara gets hurt this season. McNamara was a pivotal addition to stabilize the position with veteran leadership and the ability to absorb a playbook. Hill is an excellent addition for the future.
