Ranking the top 5 quarterback rooms in college football
1. USC
The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, Caleb Williams, is back for another season and could become the first two-time winner of the award since Archie Griffin.
Last season, Williams took the Trojans from 4-8 to one game short of a Pac-12 championship and a berth in the College Football Playoff.
That was as a sophomore too.
I expect Williams to be even better this season. He’s a pro-style QB in my book, but he also has that play-making ability that sort of makes him feel like the second coming of Patrick Mahomes.
Yet, his backup is also going to be one of the most talented quarterbacks in all of college football and that’s Malachi Nelson, a five-star from 2023 who ranked as the No. 5 quarterback and No. 12 overall player in 2024.
Lincoln Riley knows a thing or two about recruiting elite quarterbacks and he’s got two of them in Los Angeles right now and plenty of teams would love the idea of Nelson as their starter in 2023.
