Michigan State has proven that they play well against Penn State at Spartan Stadium and the weather has benefitted the Spartans in recent years as well.

Not only have the Spartans fared well overall against Penn State since 2010, Michigan State especially does well against the Nittany Lions when the game is played in November in what some may refer to as unfavorable weather conditions at Spartan Stadium.

2010: Michigan State goes on the road and defeats Penn State on November 27 in Happy Valley.

2014: After not playing Penn State for three years, the Spartans go on the road and beats the                      Nittany Lions by 24 points on Nov. 29.

2015: In the snow in East Lansing, Michigan State defeated Penn State by 39 points.

2017: At Spartan Stadium, after almost 3 1/2 hours of the game being delayed by severe weather in the second quarter, Michigan State with a field goal beat Penn State as time expired.

2018: At Penn State, the Spartans after being down at halftime defeated the Nittany Lions on the road by four points for a much-needed win.

2021: On a cold snowy day in East Lansing on Nov. 27, the Spartans defeated Penn State.

Fast forward to this upcoming season, Michigan State will need every advantage possible in their matchup against the Nittany Lions and their high-powered offense. The Spartans have shown at least twice that if the weather is favorable for them, it can slow down the Penn State offense and give Michigan State a chance to win a game against a more talented team.

Playing the game indoors at Ford Field as opposed to outside at Spartan Stadium favors Penn State and their quest to potentially win the Big Ten East Division crown. Playing on turf and in a dome stadium with the weather not being a factor greatly benefits Penn State and the offense that head coach James Franklin wants to run. The Nittany Lions must be happy that this game is in late November and is being played indoors and not on the Michigan State campus in possible 20 or 30-degree weather with the possibility of there being a snowstorm.
