3. Western Kentucky at Ohio State

Western Kentucky enters 2023 with a lot of new faces, including on the coaching staff. Head Coach Tyson Helton has seen quite the revolving door of coaches come through his program. A lot of new staff this season which is always interesting to keep an eye on. For that reason in addition to the fact that Ohio State will overwhelm them with talent, give me the Buckeyes big in this one.

This is the last game before the first big test for the Buckeyes, and I would think they probably want to be settled in on a starter at quarterback heading into week 4. This Western Kentucky game will be important for one guy to emerge.

Prediction: Win (3-0, 1-0)

4. Ohio State at Notre Dame

This is where things start to get interesting for Ohio State football as the Buckeyes go on the road to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Notre Dame comes into 2023 as a very intriguing team with the addition of Wake Forest transfer Sam Hartman at quarterback. Hartman is very talented and put up crazy numbers at Wake Forest. The loss of offensive coordinator Tommy Rees to Alabama will be felt, but the ceiling for Notre Dame is certainly inside the top 10, with an interesting offense that will hinge on the production of Hartman.

While I do believe that Ohio State football is the more talented team and has a higher potential this season than that of the Irish, give me Notre Dame in a close one here. The home field combined with the revenge narrative, and the first test for a new quarterback for Ohio State is the perfect storm for the Irish to pull off the upset here.

Prediction: Loss (3-1, 1-0)
