5. Maryland at Ohio State

The last time Maryland and Ohio State football played, this one went down to the wire as the Buckeyes escaped with a narrow win in a game that was closer than the final score indicated. Maryland certainly has the ability to score points and will be returning quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, which is a big deal in the Big Ten this year. The Terps won’t win the conference, but expect them to be in the top half and be a potential spoiler for some of these elite teams.

Ohio State can’t sleepwalk through this one. It will take a solid game plan to come out on top here, especially after what I anticipate being a very close and intense game the week prior against Notre Dame. They will get the win against Maryland, but they will have to fight the hangover.

Prediction: Win (4-1, 2-0)

6. Ohio State at Purdue

A road game at Purdue has had the potential to be a scary one for Ohio State in the past, but not so much this year. Purdue is entering a rebuilding year, to say the least with the addition of Ryan Walters as head coach and major losses on the offensive side of the ball.

Look for Ohio State to get some momentum building for the back half of the season as they should get the easy win here. This is a good one to have on the schedule one week prior to their second major test.

Prediction: Win (5-1, 3-0)
