Ohio State Football: Post-Spring Game-by-Game Predictions for 2023

7. Penn State at Ohio State

This is the next major test for the Buckeyes. This one is almost always tight and will be a pivotal game for the Big Ten East in 2023. I will say that this year in particular, the margin between Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State looks to be razor thin and these matchups between these three will likely come down to one play or another.

Penn State enters 2023 returning the majority of their starters on both sides of the ball. They are replacing their quarterback, although Drew Allar saw a good amount of work in 2022 and looks to be the real deal. The Nittany Lions will have a nasty defense as well that may be the best in the conference.

I am going to give this one to the Buckeyes mainly because I think the home field will be a major factor. Ohio State rarely loses at home and it is not easy to go into the shoe and come out victorious.

Prediction: Win (6-1, 4-0)

8. Ohio State at Wisconsin

Similar to the Maryland game, this one will be tricky for the Buckeyes to navigate mentally after what is likely going to be a major battle against Penn State. They will need to be able to get up for this one. Wisconsin should be a solid team and likely the best team in the Big Ten West. Their defense in particular will be tough. That combined with the home field is going to be advantageous for the Badgers.

I’ve got Ohio State football in a one-score defensive struggle here. They will find enough within themselves to pull it off on the road and continue their quest to run the table in the Big Ten.

Prediction: Win (7-1, 5-0)
