5 college football teams poised to bounce back in 2023

The hire of Bryan Harsin was a terrible decision for Auburn football. It didn’t make sense at the time, and as things moved on, it became clear Harsin wasn’t ready to coach in the SEC.

This time around, Auburn football didn’t mess around and got Hugh Freeze — a guy that’s had success in the SEC including against Nick Saban.

Freeze was a thorn in Saban’s side while he was at Ole Miss. Auburn football fans are hoping he can do the same thing with the Tigers. Adding Payton Thorne in the spring from the transfer portal to start at quarterback was huge.

Beyond that, Auburn is one of the 15 most-talented teams in college football according to the blue-chip ratio put out by Bud Elliot of 247 Sports. There is talent on the Plains, they just needed a competent head coach and like him or not, Freeze is that.
