Offense

The BYU football offense will be breaking in a new quarterback, which normally means all bets are off. In Kedon Slovis’ case, we know a bit more. He started at both USC and Pittsburgh prior to the transfer to BYU this offseason. Slovis is by no means an all-world talent, but he is going to provide some stability to the offense while some of the younger guys in the QB room develop. A guy like Slovis who has been around as much as he has will be a good asset in helping prepare the next batch of quarterbacks to be successful in this offense.

The passing attack for BYU football is going to be interesting to watch as there are some question marks surrounding this area. There is also a lot of optimism among Cougar fans. The losses of Puka Nacua and Gunner Romney will hardly be felt as this current group of receivers is one of the deepest groups patients have had in recent years, and the additions of UConn transfer Keelan Marion and Darius Lasseter along with more opportunities for Chase Roberts, Keanu Hill, and Cody Epps lead me to believe the passing attack should be quite solid.

Roberts showed some major flashes early in the season before battling injury later on. The game against Baylor in particular was a breakout game for him as he caught 8 balls for 122 yards and a touchdown. Epps ripped off several big plays last year and should have even more opportunities in 2023. Marion and Lasseter will provide some additional athleticism and are the type of players I stated earlier that BYU football has had success in getting out of the transfer portal.
