2. Mitch Griffis has as many touchdown passes as incompletions

It’s honestly incredibly weird to see Wake Forest starting a season without Sam Hartman at quarterback. Demon Deacons fans had to sit back and watch their former gunslinger light up the scoreboard in the season opener for Notre Dame against Navy and kick off a Heisman campaign.

Now, Mitch Griffis is the man in charge.

The redshirt sophomore has patiently waited his turn after watching Hartman pass for thousands of yards over the past three seasons. He’ll now take over with very little experience but he’s learned from one of the best. He has 404 yards and six touchdowns in his career and most of that came last season. He also completed 71 percent of his passes in 2022.

I expect that accuracy to continue against an FCS foe to begin the year and he’ll have a career game here. Like Hartman, Griffis will finish his first game of the season with as many touchdowns as incompletions.
