Baylor football: 3 reasons the Bears will upset No. 12 Utah in Week 2
1. Everyone is counting the Bears out
If there’s one spot that programs like Baylor like to be in, it’s the underdog role. And after stumbling against Texas State in the season opener, Baylor has assumed that role in Week 2.
Hosting No. 12 Utah, Baylor isn’t expected to do much damage as the Utes are coming off a huge Week 1 win over Florida and everyone and their brother is down on the Bears.
But that’s just where Dave Aranda wants to be.
A couple of years ago, no one was picking Baylor to do much of anything and then it went out and won the Big 12 title in year two of Aranda. He excels when no one expects him to do much. And that’s exactly why this is going to be one of my upset picks of the week.
Do I feel overly confident about Baylor taking care of the Utes at home? Not necessarily, but I feel a lot better knowing that Utah will probably not be at full strength.
Most college football fans are expecting a Utah win which is exactly why Baylor wins.
