1. Kansas wins by two touchdowns

The spread for this Friday night matchup is a modest one. As of Friday morning, the Jayhawks are 3.5-point favorites. That doesn’t seem like very much for the first big home game of the season for a Power Five team in front of fans that have been starving for good football for a decade.

That’s exactly why I think the Jayhawks come out swinging and put on a show for fans in Lawrence.

Jalon Daniels will finish with at least two touchdowns and Devin Neal is going to have a career game as the Jayhawks build a big lead early and coast to one of the more impressive victories of the Lance Leipold era.

There’s no doubt that Kansas fans are believing in the football program again and that’s thanks to the rebuild job that Leipold has done. The Jayhawks made a bowl last season and they’re going to be even better in 2023 and a convincing two-touchdown win over Illinois will be the perfect statement to the rest of college football: Kansas is here to stay.

Kansas covers the spread, and then some, and makes believers out of all of us.
