Coach Prime ensured that Colorado football is geared to the times

Anyone who’s followed Sanders’ career knows that he’s a winner. He was a two-time consensus All-American at Florida State (1987 and 88) on teams that went 22-2, winning the Sugar and Fiesta Bowls. He’s a two-time Super Bowl Champion and won two SWAC Championships at Jackson State.

You understand what it takes to win at the highest level when you’ve won the way he’s won, specifically as a player.

What Prime has done was use old-school values in his program but keep his finger on the pulse of his players. These young men are learning how to market themselves and build their personal brands in the context of the football program. Somehow, that has not made them self-centered but closer as a team.

On the field, it is obvious they have been ready to play. Do they have shortcomings? Absolutely. The Buffs got some pressure against a bad Nebraska offensive line, but they must build that part of the defense.

Let’s remember something important about what’s going on in Boulder. It’s just the first year —however, the seeds of a robust and sustainable culture at Colorado are being planted.
