How badly will the season’s latter half treat the Virginia Cavaliers?

Coming off their bye, the Cavs have to go on the road for three of their next four games, and the teams they’re visiting make for about as tough of a bunch as the ACC can produce: North Carolina (unbeaten), Miami (unbeaten), and Louisville (unbeaten). That trio makes for a stretch that is absolutely nauseating.

Those names—with an intense rivalry game at home against Georgia Tech being wedged within them—could very well deal Virginia another handful of entries for its loss column. And while I wish I could say that the last couple of matchups ease up on the Cavs, that simply does not appear to be the case.

Weeks 12 and 13 will see Virginia have a pair of home games against the Duke Blue Devils (who are also unbeaten) and Virginia Tech Hokies (historically and currently superior rivals who, unlike UVA, have proven they can beat an FBS foe).

Perhaps I’m being a tad pessimistic, but I can’t imagine back-to-back games as compromising as those doing the already-ugly Cavs—who, as we’ve established, will likely look far uglier by this point—any favors.

But luckily, after enduring the wrath of those two squads, they will finally be able to ride off into the sunset like an old dog hiding to die.

Declaring that a team will go winless is always a bold prediction, as it is not exceptionally common and involves an extreme level of misfortune. However, I would have to say that with how things sit today, the Virginia Cavaliers run a higher risk of hitting such a low than any other team in their position.
