Arkansas football: 3 bold predictions for clash against No. 16 Ole Miss
No 3. Hopes of Arkansas bowl game on life support after a loss to Ole Miss
A loss to Ole Miss this week will put the Hogs’ hopes of playing in a third consecutive bowl game in serious jeopardy. Arkansas has just two wins on the season and with only six games remaining on the schedule, there is little-to-no room for error the rest of the way.
The Hogs will compete against No. 11 Alabama next week, followed by a home game against Miss State and a trip to The Swamp to face Florida. Then, a three-game home stand will end the season with games against Auburn, Florida International and No. 21 Missouri.
It gets harder and harder to see where Arkansas gets four more wins in their final six games. They are probably only going to be listed as the favorites to win against Miss State and FIU. The remaining four games, they’ll certainly be fighting an uphill battle as underdogs.
While it’s not impossible for the Razorbacks to go bowling if they drop this game against the Rebels, it’s going to take a historic finish to the season for Arkansas to pull it off.
A win against Ole Miss this week will not only give Arkansas a much needed cushion and preserve hopes of competing in a bowl game, but it will go a long way in cooling off a fan base that is starting to cast doubt on the annual ceiling of the Arkansas football program..
