Iowa Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Purdue in Week 6
By Brad Schultz
2. Deacon Hill throws over 200 yards
This one is especially bold considering the Iowa offense has only averaged 240 yards per game. Despite being thrust into action against Michigan State, I liked what I saw from backup Deacon Hill. He certainly wasn’t afraid to step up in the pocket and deliver a clean ball, although his receivers struggled to hold onto the ball.
At Iowa’s media day on Tuesday, Hill was not ashamed to call himself a gunslinger.
“I think my favorite throw is the deep ball, most people on the team could tell you that,” he said.
Expect offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz to open up the playbook and give Hill some opportunities to show off his arm. If Iowa’s offensive line can provide Hill with enough protection, then he should be able to reach the 200-yard mark and give the Hawkeye passing attack a much-needed boost in his first career start.
