The referees in the LSU vs. Missouri game have come under fire for a number of questionable and missed calls on Saturday afternoon which has marred an otherwise great ranked battle.

One of the missed calls led to an injury to Jayden Daniels.

The LSU quarterback corralled a bad snap inside the 5-yard line of Missouri, rushed to his left, and crossed the goal line for a touchdown but was drilled in the back by a Tiger defender late. The touchdown was called back after a holding penalty on LSU. So he took the hit for nothing.

Daniels exited the game and was replaced for the remainder of the drive by his backup, leading to just a field goal try for LSU which ended up being missed.

The entire sequence of events drew the attention of everyone as it should have been a penalty on Missouri for a late hit if anything. That would have salvaged the scoring drive.

Jayden Daniels leaves game with injury after a late hit

Daniels was having a solid game before leaving the game with an injury because of the hit you’ll see below after a touchdown run (it was called back after an offensive hold).

You make the call, is this a dirty late hit?

To me, this is an unnecessary hit on a defenseless player after he clearly crosses the goal line. There’s no reason for the Missouri defender to go for the late tackle here.

Daniels ended up returning to the game, but he’s in clear pain, wincing on his throws.
