Big 12 Football Power Rankings After Week 6
By Erika Brown
3. Kansas Jayhawks (5-1, 2-1)
The Kansas Jayhawks are no longer just a basketball school. They have been a great football team in the Big 12 as well. The one loss on the season was to a top-ranked Texas Longhorns team. Kansas ranks in the top 25 in the nation and hopes to get starting quarterback Jalon Daniels back. They face the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater on Saturday.
2. Texas Longhorns (5-1, 2-1 conference)
The game of the week did not disappoint. Even though Texas lost the game at the end to the Sooners, the Longhorns still looked like the second-best team in the Big 12. Quinn Ewers made some costly mistakes and the defense let Oklahoma score with barely any time left in the game. They come into their bye week at a perfect time, then finish October with games against Houston and BYU.
1. Oklahoma Sooners (6-0, 3-0 conference)
The Sooners played this game like they were playing for a College Football Playoff spot. Dillon Gabriel scored the game-winning touchdown with just seconds left on the clock, looking poised and calm in the pocket. And OU’s defense came up big as well, stopping the Longhorns from scoring on their own goal line late in the 4th quarter. OU looks to continue its streak after the bye week, with games against UCF and Kansas.
