USC Football: 3 Reasons why the Trojans will beat Utah
Home field advantage: The Grand Old Lady
LA Memorial Coliseum or as many like to call the iconic venue: The Grand Old Lady, has reestablished itself as a daunting place to play for visitors. The always picturesque stadium had lost some spirit during the post-Pete Carroll era—until now.
Since Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams arrived in Los Angeles, the 100-year-old venue has seen both the caliber of play on the field as well as the fan support from in the stands improve dramatically. In turn, the Trojans have built an impressive 11-game home winning streak.
During this double-digit winning run, the Trojans have been torching opponents. Scoring 48.9 points per game whilst allowing just 22 points per contest, and as such, USC has looked like a juggernaut in many of these contests.
Now comes pesky Utah to town, the thorn in Southern California’s side. The Utes edged SC on multiple occasions in 2022. However, neither game was played inside The Grand Old Lady. Thus, the Utes will be up against it as a raucous Coliseum crowd will assuredly rile up the Trojan football squad.
As a result, the Trojans will ooze with energy, providing the proper intensity that is required to rattle the likes of either Cameron Rising or Nate Johnson on the way to victory.
