Utah Football: 3 Takeaways from Thrilling Victory over USC
2. USC has major issues on both sides of the ball
It has become apparent in the past couple of weeks watching USC football that they were never a contender on the national level. The defense is painful to watch and although they have playmakers on offense, namely Caleb Williams, the offensive line has been beaten badly the past couple of weeks against Notre Dame and Utah.
This causes Williams to run for his life on several occasions throughout the game, and the offense gets out of sorts. If their offense isn’t working, they are in a lot of trouble against quality teams.
It is not out of the question for the Trojans to lose two to three more games if they do not improve up front. They still have Washington, Oregon, and UCLA that have shown some strength on defense. This is what can happen in a conference like the Pac-12 this season when your defense is the weakest among the supposed “contenders” in the conference. If they are going to give up a significant amount of points, you need the offense to make up for it. I’m not sure they’ve got it.
