ACC Power Rankings: #4 FSU Survives, #17 UNC falls

3. Boston College Eagles (2-2, 4-3):
The Ol’ Ball Coach cried in his mint julep after losing the “First Coach Fired Pool.” We tried to tell him Boston College doesn’t fire coaches midseason, but he didn’t listen. In addition to BC’s human resources practices, Jeff Hafley has done a tremendous job in Chestnut Hill.
He and offensive coordinator Steve Shimko have found something in quarterback Thomas Castellanos, who leads the team in passing and rushing. Wide receiver Lewis Bond has been a solid go-to for Castellanons. Barring catastrophe, the Eagles should go bowling and save Hafley’s job.
2. #20 Duke Blue Devils (2-1, 5-2):
Injuries are part of the game, but it stinks that quarterback Riley Leonard wasn’t healthy for this game. The Blue Devils had a good game plan and had the ‘Noles on the ropes for two and a half quarters. It became evident, however, that they could hold up in pass protection against Florida State’s defensive line depth.
The rest of the season comes down to the health of Leonard’s ankle. Bless Henry Belin’s heart, but he’s not ready for prime time just yet.
1. #4 Florida State Seminoles (5-0, 7-0):
There is something awesome about the Florida State Seminoles being one of college football’s best teams. If you are in a particular age group, as we are here at headquarters, you grew up with Florida State being excellent. They had to sweat the Duke game, but Jordan Travis and the ‘Noles came up big when they needed it.
Looking at the rest of this schedule, the only team that can keep Florida State from running the table is Florida State.
