No. 14: Brent Key, Georgia Tech

After the end of last season, Brent Key is the last guy I thought would be at the bottom of this list, but he has proven maybe last year with Tech was just a bit of luck. Key has been 7-8 since taking over as head coach for Tech going back to last season, and it has been a rollercoaster. Key seems to lose games he shouldn’t lose like Bowling Green at home, but then beat top 25 Miami on the road. The difference is last year when they beat UNC, they deserved to win, against Miami 2 weeks ago, it was clearly a mismanagement on Mario Cristobal’s part.

Key has to get things in order if he wants to stay at Georgia Tech. Tech needs 3 more wins for a bowl game, and that is looking more and more unlikely by the day.

No. 13: Tony Elliott, Virginia Cavaliers

Tony Elliott’s seat was scoring hot after a 1-5 start to the season, however, after a top-10 win over UNC that seat is now a little cooler. Elliott has had a disastrous first 2 seasons so far in Virginia, and this win over #10 UNC was a saving grace for Elliott. If Elliott can get his team rolling and put up a fight in the rest of their games, he may have a chance to stay at Virginia. A win like this is monumental for him no matter how you slice it.

Elliott started 0-5 this season, that’s pretty unacceptable by recent Virginia football standards. If Elliott can turn it around I’ll commend him, but for now, he stands just above the bottom.
