No 3. Indiana Hoosiers

Tom Allen sits firmly atop CBS Sports Senior Writer Dennis Dodd’s list of 2023 Hot Seat Rankings: Midseason update and for good reason. The longtime coach of the Hoosiers is 32-46 and has lost all three bowl game appearances under his watch.

In his eighth season at the helm, Allen has amassed a disappointing 2-6 record at Indiana, underscored by having to go to four overtimes just to top Akron by two points.

He’s had just one winning campaign (excluding the shortened 2020 season) since being elevated to the team’s head coach after serving as Defensive Coordinator in 2016. The first-time head coach may have run out of time to turn things around in Indiana, as the Hoosiers have little to show for during his tenure.

If Indiana wants to turn things around, it’s becoming more and more evident they need a complete reset and culture change. This team has the resources to be more than just “a basketball school,” but it’ll take someone with a bigger vision and more creative mindset to compete in a loaded Big Ten.
