No 2. Arkansas Razorbacks

Sam Pittman— oh, Sam Pittman. Where did it all go wrong? One minute the Wall Street Journal is calling you the Ted Lasso of college football offensive lines and the next you’re finding yourself skyrocketing up the college football coaching hot seat lists and firing some of your coaching staff to stave off a complete mutiny from your fan base.

Pittman made the difficult choice to fire Dan Enos, the team’s offensive coordinator— the man who was signed to a multi-year deal to replace Kendall Briles (who himself departed for the same position with TCU)— shortly after the team lost at home to Mississippi State (and their backup quarterback) 7-3.

“I can’t really put my finger on it,” Pittman said when asked why things didn’t work out between the Razorbacks and Offensive Coordinator Dan Enos after just seven games.

But, it was the last part of his answer that gives reason to question Pittman himself.

”We’ve lost our spirit,” which if we were to translate, sounds a whole lot like he may have lost his locker room.

Our own Connor Muldowney concurs, writing that the blame for such in-game blunders falls squarely on the shoulders of the head hog.

"Pittman let it get this bad. His team was running the ball up the middle from their own 25-yard-line with three minutes left. They were taking sacks on crucial third downs. They were playing arguably their worst game of the Pittman era. It was ugly."

Pittman is an extremely likable guy, but as a head coach, it may be Razorback fans who have lost their spirit in believing Pittman is the man to get this team to compete with the Alabama and Ole Miss teams of the SEC West.
