Nov. 4: at Iowa State

This upcoming Saturday, the Jayhawks will travel to Ames to face the Iowa State Cyclones, and that means that these predictions will be getting fuzzy right out of the gate.

I have praised ISU for its ability to stick around with Big 12 competition so far this year, sitting at 5-3 after a 30-18 win at Baylor. The victory has the Cyclones at 4-1 in their last five games and clinched them an unbeaten record for the month of October.

Kansas having to face that quality of opposition on the road makes for a trap game in its truest form, and that would stand even if we didn’t have to humor the chances of this now being a “hangover game” as well. With all of that in mind, I’ll place my bets on Iowa State riding its stellar momentum to a tight win here.

Nov. 11: Texas Tech

Interestingly enough, the Red Raiders are essentially the polar opposites of Iowa State, as while the Cyclones are on a roll despite coming off of a sorry 2022 season, Texas Tech is in a rough patch despite coming off of a decent one.

The Raiders have lost back-to-back games by double-digit margins, leaving them with a 3-5 record today. Play of that caliber fails to provide much comfort when facing a team of Kansas’ capabilities, and that is especially so when having to do it on the road. Therefore, I see no reason as to why the Jayhawks can’t join Tech’s club of ugly losses.
