Kansas football: Game-by-game predictions for November 2023
By Austin Lloyd
Nov. 18: Kansas State
The Kansas State Wildcats have won the last 14 meetings with Kansas in the iconic “Sunflower Showdown,” and only two of those have been decided by single-digit margins. With the Cats also having a 6-2 record after their third beatdown win in a row, the odds of that streak rising to 15 feel very high.
I know that similar criteria could have been used heading into KU’s date with Oklahoma, but the outcome we got from that game was nothing short of a miracle. Miracles don’t happen especially often for anyone, but I’m supposed to believe that two are going to happen for, of all teams, the Kansas Jayhawks — and mere weeks apart, no less? Yeah, I think I’ll pass.
Nov. 25: at Cincinnati
I take my work very seriously, so when I tackle subject matters like today’s, I try my hardest to illustrate that by vividly breaking down my stances with objective reasoning that has been built off of indisputable observation. With that said, I regret to blankly state that there’s absolutely nothing about this game that makes me believe Cincinnati has even the lightest chance at snatching victory over Kansas.
With a current record of 2-6 that started out as 2-0 and doesn’t include a single win in Big 12 play, there is simply no denying that the Bearcats suck — period. In fact, they’ve looked so much worse than Kansas has against common foes (BYU, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, specifically) that I’d argue the Jayhawks shouldn’t struggle in getting the road dub here even remotely.
Final regular-season record prediction for KU: 8-4
At the beginning, I recognized how unpredictable of ball the Kansas Jayhawks have played so far this season, and hinted at the turbulence bleeding into their remaining games. So, considering that I have them splitting said games with no win/loss streak being established in the process, I’d have to say that’s even more possible than I had originally figured.
But, if my predictions were to be accurate, that would still leave the Jayhawks entering a bowl with eight wins to their name. When remembering where they came from, I don’t think anyone in Lawrence would complain about that.
