Iowa Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Northwestern in Week 10
By Brad Schultz
1. Brian Ferentz gets tricky
It’s been an interesting week for the Iowa football program. First, offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz was terminated by interim athletic director Beth Goetz. Then, long-time head coach Kirk Ferentz, Brian’s father, spoke to the media the very next day about the incident, while also trying to focus on this week’s game.
There was also speculation in the media that this could be the final season for the elder Ferentz, as he did not give a strong indication that he will return to the sidelines in 2024. The next day, Ferentz released a statement that said he intends to coach in 2024, but it casts yet another shadow of doubt over the program.
As for the game itself, I expect Brian Ferentz to throw the kitchen sink at every opponent the Hawkeyes face for the rest of the season. He can now enter every game knowing that his job isn’t at stake anymore, and he’ll come into each game more loose.
I expect Ferentz to dial up a few trick plays that will catch Northwestern and Iowa fans by surprise.
