If you were lucky enough to watch the track meet, er, football game between Washington and USC on Saturday night, you would have seen one of the most exciting games of the season. No, defense wasn’t being played, but the Huskies got some key breaks and took advantage of some USC mistakes to take a crucial lead into the half.
Everyone knew that the last team to have the ball was going to win this game, as evidenced by the 63 points scored in the first half, and the Huskies were able to do just that.
Michael Penix Jr. had his Heisman moment in the first half with a beautiful scramble and touchdown pass to tie the game up and he led the Huskies to a big road win over the Trojans.
While USC has been struggling, this is not an easy team to beat, especially on the road. This was a huge resume builder.
Washington is knocking on the door to be in that top four. And I think the committee will answer.
