Survive and advance. That’s pretty much all you can say about Texas’ win on Saturday afternoon over No. 23 Kansas State. The Wildcats probably deserved to win after dominating the third and fourth quarters, but Texas survived after leading by 20 early on and holding on in overtime.
Quinn Ewers was out for this one, so it was up to Maalik Murphy to get the job done and he did just enough to lead Texas to a much-needed win.
A loss to Kansas State at home on Saturday would have ended any playoff hopes that the Longhorns have, but luckily a fourth-down stop in overtime was the difference.
