Alabama had one of the toughest tests of any playoff contender on Saturday night, hosting the No. 14 LSU Tigers. Jayden Daniels gave the Tide all they could handle as this game was much more high-scoring than LSU-Alabama games of the past.

Success on third downs and the legs of Jalen Milroe were the difference in this one as Alabama was able to hold on for a big win and stay alive in the College Football Playoff race.

Will the Tide move up at all after winning this one? I could actually see the committee leaping them over Texas after the Longhorns nearly lost at home to Kansas State. This win over LSU was more impressive, in my opinion.

I think we’ll see Alabama and Texas trade positions in the rankings this week and that’s what you call the Nick Saban effect.
