Big 12 Football Power Rankings after Week 10
By Erika Brown
13. UCF (4-5, 1-5 conference)
UCF finally has their first win! Unfortunately, it comes against the struggling Cincinnati, so they don’t get much of a boost in the power rankings. UCF was able to come out with the win on the back of their running back, RJ Harvey. He ran for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns, and the defense had no way of stopping the attack. UCF faces a tough matchup this week at home against a rising Oklahoma State team.
12. BYU (5-4, 2-4 conference)
BYU had a difficult match this week, meeting up with West Virginia in Morgantown for the first Big 12 showdown between the two teams. BYU was handled easily by the Mountaineers. They not only struggled in the run game, only acquiring 67 yards on the ground, but also in stopping the run. Hopefully, things can get right this week against Iowa State at home.
11. Baylor (3-6, 2-4 conference)
Baylor has had some bad luck this season. They pulled out a thrilling comeback, tying the game in the final seconds to get to overtime. They were first to score but ultimately didn’t stop the Cougars for their two-point conversion. The team played better than in previous weeks but still did not finish the game. They face defending champions Kansas State Wildcats this week.
10. Houston (4-5, 2-4 conference)
Houston got their second Big 12 win in a shootout in overtime against Baylor down in Waco. After going scoreless in the first quarter, it was a back-and-forth game. The Cougars tried to hold off Baylor, but the Bears scored a last-second touchdown to take the game to overtime. They sealed the deal with a two-point conversion and got the win. They face Cincinnati at home this week.
