3. Auburn is (surprisingly) bowl eligible
Obviously, getting to bowl eligibility is not typically a big feat at Auburn. The program, frankly, expects much more than simply bowl games on a yearly basis.
However, considering the circumstances, this is a sign that things are moving forward at a satisfactory rate.
It’s well documented that in the previous regime, this program had hit rock bottom. Fan morale was at an all-time low, and the on-field product was downright pitiful.
It was one of the worst eras that Auburn has ever endured.
Given that recent history, beating an SEC foe by 38 points and securing bowl eligibility is a massive win. Next year, simple bowl eligibility won’t be enough, and in the following seasons, it may even be considered a failure. Now, however, it’s progress.
The Hugh Freeze report card in 2023 graded on a curve for the state of the program he took over? So far, it’s a solid A.
