Georgia hosted ESPN’s game of the week on Saturday night with College GameDay in town to check out the No. 2 Bulldogs versus the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels. This was easily the most intriguing matchup of the day outside of Happy Valley.
This was a chance for Georgia to take control of the College Football Playoff rankings and control their fate, beating a top-10 opponent handily. It would be the Bulldogs’ second straight ranked win.
And they got it.
The game was essentially out of reach at halftime with Georgia holding a two-touchdown lead over the Rebels and the Bulldogs just extended that in the second half.
It may be time to start really respecting Carson Beck in the Heisman race.
Also, this dominant win could actually vault the Bulldogs into the No. 1 spot but we’ll see if the committee values Ohio State’s blowout win over Michigan State.
