1. Sherrone Moore out-coached James Franklin
Last year, it was Jim Harbaugh who out-coached James Franklin. This year, it was his temporary replacement, Sherrone Moore.
The Wolverines’ offensive coordinator had the plan of milking the clock and keeping Penn State off the field with long drives and he accomplished it. He only drew up eight passing plays and let JJ McCarthy use his legs. He drew up the perfect game plan to beat Penn State and when the lead was 14-3, it felt like the game was over.
You have to credit Jesse Minter for drawing up the perfect defensive game plan as Franklin and Manny Diaz were out-coached on Saturday afternoon.
That raises a ton of questions for the future of Penn State under Franklin and it should make Michigan’s future clearer — Moore should be Harbaugh’s eventual replacement. He earned it.
