Texas A&M football: Top 5 candidates to replace Jimbo Fisher
4. Kalen DeBoer, Washington
Kalen DeBoer is going to be a name on a lot of coaching hotlists in the coming months if more big jobs come open.
Michael Penix Jr. will be gone after this season and while the Huskies are in the midst of a playoff chase, DeBoer makes a lot of sense. There aren’t any ties with him to the University or to the SEC but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
DeBoer has had success with Fresno State and now, Washington, as the Huskies are heading towards a Pac-12 championship game showdown with Oregon.
Bad quarterback play has been a constant for Texas A&M. Fisher was supposed to fix that — it’s one reason he was hired. DeBoer would fit that same mold. That’s why I’m a little skeptical. However, it’s hard to ignore the results.
